Tiffany Meredith is a career prosecutor who has spent 10 years working for the Story County Attorney’s Office. She obtained a mathematics and computer science Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University in 2006 and a Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School in 2009. During her time at the Story County Attorney’s Office, she has had the opportunity to work on the criminal, juvenile, and mental health dockets. She has tried over 25 criminal jury trials which have included Murder in the First Degree, Kidnapping in the First Degree, and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. Her primary case work is on sexual abuse cases and other felony level offenses. Ms. Meredith is also a passionate advocate for those with mental illness. In collaboration with her co-workers, she has begun to implement a mental health diversion program. The State of Iowa is unable to create specialty courts at this time so Ms. Meredith and her colleagues have found ways to work within the confines of the current criminal justice system to work with those defendants who have mental illnesses toward an outcome that brings a victim justice, but also assists the defendant to getting to a better place. Ms. Meredith has also served as an executive board member of the National Alliance of Mental Illness Central Iowa since 2017.
