Ronald “Keith” Reid is a Consultant for the Engility Corporation in support of the U.S.  Department of Justice, International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).  In this role, Sergeant Reid serves as a law enforcement advisor in Pretoria, South Africa providing technical assistance, consultation, and training to law enforcement on sexual assault investigations.  

Prior to consulting, Sergeant Reid served for 27 years with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), before retiring in 2014.  During his last 10 years of his service, he worked in the Sexual Assault and Sex Offender Registry Units, supervising detectives responsible for conducting victim-centered sexual assault investigations and monitoring sex offenders.  

Throughout Sergeant Reid’s career, he worked tirelessly to improve criminal justice and community responses to sexual assault.  In addition to supervising the Sexual Assault Unit, he served in a detective capacity for another 15 years as a primary investigator.  He was personally responsible for investigating hundreds of cases involving sexual abuse of adults and children.  He lectured nationally and internationally for various law enforcement agencies in the field of adult and child sexual abuse.  He also serves on multiple community advisory boards for universities. Sergeant Reid currently serves on the Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Reporting (SAFER) Steering Committee for the Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and contributed to its final report to Congress on best practices.
