Nicole Stahlmann, MN, RN, SANE-A, AFN-BC, is the Clinical Program Manager for the District of Columbia Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE). As the Clinical Program Manager, Ms. Stahlmann facilitates DCFNE’s forensic evidence collection and maintenance, toxicology specimen supervision, courtroom preparation, and administrative support to the nurses. Ms. Stahlmann also treats victims of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, as well as provides follow-up care to patients receiving sexually transmitted infection and HIV prophylaxis. Ms. Stahlmann is recognized as an expert on forensic nursing, serving both as an expert witness for criminal and civil cases, conducts educational trainings for healthcare professionals nationwide, and represents DCFNE at international conferences and events. A registered nurse with 8 years of clinical experience, Ms. Stahlmann has dedicated her career to forensic nursing. She certified as a SANE-A in 2015 and received her Advance Forensic Nurse Board Certification (AFN-BC) in 2016 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to her work with DCFNE, Ms. Stahlmann was an emergency department nurse at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and adjunct instructor at Georgetown University, School of Nursing, teaching both undergraduate and masters prepared students. Ms. Stahlmann is active in the nursing community and has served as the Secretary for the Maryland-Washington, District of Columbia Chapter of the International Association of Forensic Nurses. She also served as both the Secretary and President-Elect, and now is the President of the Foundation Board of the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
