Detective, Persons and Violent Crime Unit, Platte County Sheriff’s Department
Detective Nancy Penrod is a 20-year veteran with the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. Det. Penrod has been assigned as a Detective with Persons and Violent Crimes Unit for the past eight years and has investigated hundreds of sexual assault cases. Det. Penrod has developed and implemented training involving sexual assaults and violent crimes for in-service training as well as training geared toward civilian awareness of violent crimes. Det. Penrod has worked on fostering the relationship between law enforcement and medical personnel regarding the collection of evidence of physical and sexual assaults. Det. Penrod has developed and implemented training involving instructors with the United States Army for Tactical First Aid Training for Law Enforcement. Every year, Det. Penrod speaks in Platte County High Schools and Middle Schools regarding sexual violence. Det. Penrod is the current team leader for the Platte County Crisis Negotiation Team and has been a member of the team since 2001. Det. Penrod also serves as a board member for COVERSA (Collection of Victim Evidence Regarding Sexual Assault).
