Mark L. Gibson is currently the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Platte County, Missouri. Since graduating from law school in 1991, Mr. Gibson has dedicated his entire legal career to being a prosecutor. From 1991 to 1994, he was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, from 1994 to 2004, he was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Johnson County, Missouri and from 2004 to the present, he is the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Platte County, Missouri. Mr. Gibson currently supervises 10 attorneys in one of the five counties in the metropolitan Kansas City area. He has tried over 90 jury trials in his legal career. He has tried cases on nearly every kind of crime, including murder, rape, sexual assault, robbery, kidnapping, distribution and possession of child pornography, terroristic threats and other crimes. Mr. Gibson has frequently presented on topics relating to issues in sexual assault prosecutions to law enforcement and medical professionals in the Kansas City area, issues relating to courtroom testimony to law enforcement personnel and issues concerning jury selection and Brady/Giglio issues to fellow prosecutors. Mr. Gibson currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Missouri Criminal Practice and Procedure Committee.
