Ms. Hopkinson began her forensic career in January 2005 as an intern with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Forensic Science Services Division. Ms. Hopkinson was hired as a Biologist with MPD in September 2005. In 2009 Ms. Hopkinson was appointed as the Alternate State CODIS Administrator for the District of Columbia. She and the State CODIS Administrator we’re responsible for the establishment of the CODIS program at the laboratory. In October 2012 the Government of the District of Columbia established the Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS). Ms. Hopkinson continued to serve in the role of Alternate State CODIS Administrator with DFS. In February 2013 Ms. Hopkinson was appointed State CODIS Administrator and has managed the CODIS program at DFS for the past six (6) years. She is also the Acting Unit Manager for the Forensic Biology Unit at DFS. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC) and a Master’s of Science in Forensic Science from Arcadia University (Glenside, PA).
