Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Coordinator, South Carolina Department of Corrections
Kenneth L. James serves as the Agency Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Prior to that he was the statewide PREA Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. In both roles he has overseen detention facilities’ compliance with federal regulations to prevent and respond to sexual assault. In addition to his 20 years’ experience in corrections, Mr. James had an extensive military career, retiring from the South Carolina National Guard as a Staff Sergeant in 2017.
