General Counsel and Vice President of External Relations


Justin Wood serves on the leadership team at Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas (CACTX) as General Counsel and Vice-President of External Relations where he handles legal and public policy matters, as well as statewide partner relations, for the 70-member network of children’s advocacy centers throughout Texas. Prior to joining CACTX, Mr. Wood served as an Assistant District Attorney for many years, both in Harris County, Houston and Travis County, Austin. In the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he reached the rank of Chief Felony Prosecutor and was honored to seek justice for crime victims, particularly child and adult survivors of sexual assault and violence. Following his time in Houston, Mr. Wood made the move to Austin and served as the Chief of the Public Integrity Unit in the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. In addition to prosecution, Mr. Wood has a long history working in the field of public policy, most recently serving as Director of the Criminal Justice Committee for the Texas Senate. Mr. Wood originally hails from Big Spring, Texas. He is a proud Texas Aggie, having graduated from Texas A&M University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his Juris doctorate from Texas Tech School of Law in 2002.
