Jennifer Pemberton
Associate Professor/Faculty Liaison, Principal Investigator
Jennifer Vargas Pemberton is an Assistant Professor at the California State University Northridge (CSUN) in the Michael D. Eisner College of Education, Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. She is the Faculty Liaison and Principal Investigator for StrengthUnited, a CSUN chartered center non-profit community agency that provides treatment for trauma. Dr. Pemberton oversees and provides clinical supervision for the Campus Care Advocate program at CSUN, a program that provides education, prevention, and treatment for trauma for students, faculty and staff. She is a licensed Psychologist. Dr. Pemberton has over 25 years of clinical and supervisory experience, specializing in trauma and PTSD, crisis management and working with high-risk behaviors including suicide. She has been the Director of Training for Postdoctoral Fellows specializing in the treatment of trauma and developed and manages a crisis program to provide intensive services for traumatized children and adolescents with high-risk behaviors. Dr. Pemberton has published articles and book chapters, received national grant funding and has presented at national and international conferences in the areas focused on trauma and high-risk behaviors, including suicide and substance use, among ethnically diverse populations, with a focus on the Latinx community and women.
