Lieutenant Jaron Hickman is a seventeen-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department. After graduating from the police academy, he was assigned to patrol in the Seventh District. During his time at the Seventh District, he also worked in Auto Theft Unit and the Crime Suppression Team. In 2008, Detective Hickman was transferred to the Crime Scene Investigations Division where he was tasked with recovering and processing evidence in numerous violent and property crimes. In 2010, he was awarded Crime Scene Technician of the Year. In 2012, Detective Hickman was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to patrol in the Sixth District. During his time at the Sixth District, he supervised the Crime Suppression Team. In 2015, Sgt. Hickman was transferred to the Narcotics and Special Investigations Division where he supervised a unit of officers responsible for robbery prevention. In 2016, Sgt. Hickman was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to patrol in the Seventh District where he managed a Patrol Sector on the midnight tour of duty. In 2017, Lt. Hickman was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Divisions where he was the Unit Commander of the Seventh District Detectives’ Unit. In this role, Lt. Hickman managed criminal investigations of violent and property crimes in the Seventh District. In 2018, Lt. Hickman was assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit as the Unit Commander. In this role, Lt. Hickman manages criminal investigations into sexual offenses and sexual abuse of adults. Lt. Hickman is a lifelong District resident and a product of DC Public Schools. Lt. Hickman is also US Army Veteran and currently lives in the District in Ward 8 with his wife and two sons.
