Sergeant DeVevo is a supervisor in the Jacksonville (FL) Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit, where he manages detectives who investigate active and cold investigations, funded by the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI). He is recognized for his work in the field of sex crimes, and regularly trains audiences from the private and public sector, with an emphasis on managing cold case units, building survivor trust, specialized staff recruitment and supervision, and the role of investigator perception on case outcome.
Sergeant Jacob DeVevo graduated with honors from the University of North Florida with a degree in psychology in 2001 and subsequently attended the Department of Justice Police Corps Training Program. Afterward, he was hired by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, where he has worked in various divisions, including patrol, burglary, sex crimes, special assaults, and multiple task forces.
