Elizabeth is a Visiting Professor at Brooklyn Law School, where she co-teaches the Criminal Defense & Advocacy Clinic with Kate Mogulescu. Elizabeth is committed to transforming our societal response to harm and reimagining institutional systems into frameworks that promote healing and connection. Before joining Brooklyn Law School, Elizabeth was a Supervising Attorney at The Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Appeals Bureau, where she represented clients seeking post-conviction relief. Her work included direct appeals, C.P.L. 440 motions, parole advocacy, risk adjudication hearings under the Sex Offender Registration Act, and state habeas corpus petitions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Elizabeth co-created the COVID Emergency Release Project, a statewide effort to free medically vulnerable people from New York State prisons through litigation and public awareness campaigns aimed at amplifying the voices of at-risk people behind bars. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jonathan Lippman on the New York State Court of Appeals. Elizabeth received her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her B.A. from Wesleyan University.
