Sergeant Denise Jones has been a law enforcement office for nearly 20 years. She began her career in law enforcement with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Jones transitioned to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in 2007. During her career in law enforcement Sgt. Jones has worked various assignments, including corrections, court security, patrol, Jail, and Professional Standards. Sgt. Jones currently serves in the Intimate Partner Crime Unit, where she is responsible for managing the unit along with investigating and following up with all incidents of domestic violence, strangulation, stalking, protection order violations, and sexual assaults between intimate partners. The Intimate Partner Crime Unit also oversees all internal departmental training with regards to intimate partner crime, along with training outside agencies within their jurisdiction. Sgt. Jones works with community partners, services providers, advocates, and with members of marginalized populations within her jurisdiction to reduce gender bias and discrimination for community members. Sgt. Jones is also serving as an instructor for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) for LGBTQ+ Issue’s in Policing and other areas involving intimate partner violence. Sgt. Jones graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration. She also has a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master of Science degree in Emergency Services Management. She is currently enrolled at Oregon State University in the Bachelor of Arts in Women, Gender, Sexual Studies program.
