Andrea Piper-Wentland is a recognized state and national leader on sexual violence. She has over 20 years of experience in the sexual assault and victim service field. She has worked as a Community Advocate, Assistant Director of a local Community Sexual Assault Program, Policy Director, and Executive Director of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs. After 12 years of rewarding and diverse coalition work, Ms. Piper-Wentland left to form a successful lobbying and consulting business. Currently, she is CEO of Piper-Wentland Innovations. Her portfolio focuses on public policy, violence prevention, victim services, public safety, worker protection, and related social justice issues. Throughout her career in sexual assault work, she has held positions of leadership and focused her efforts on enhancing individual and system responses to victims and survivors. She served as the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Washington State Sex Offender Policy Board and has participated on numerous other state taskforces and workgroups. She has been instrumental in guiding statewide coordination, policy, and legislation. Her knowledge, ideas, and advocacy have contributed to robust sexual assault policy reforms, such as stronger sexual assault protection orders, protecting rape victims from being forced to co-parent with the person who raped them, eliminating the statute of limitations for children, modifying the statute of limitations for adults, rape kit reform, kit tracking, trafficking responses, crime victim funding, anti-discrimination laws, sex offender management, creating trauma-informed sexual assault victim interview training for law enforcement, and many other victim-centered and public safety responses.
