Lieutenant Andrea Munford has been with the Michigan State University Police Department (MSU PD) since 1997. She is currently on special assignment as an adviser to the MSU President on relationship violence and sexual misconduct issues.
Lt. Munford is the Training Coordinator for the MSU Police Department Center for Trauma Informed Investigative Excellence. In this role, she develops training and outreach to law enforcement on trauma-informed response, as well as other disciplines that intersect with those investigations.
Lt. Munford was formerly assigned as the Investigative Division Commander where she supervised the MSU PD Special Victims Unit (SVU). The SVU is responsible for investigating sex crimes, relationship violence, stalking, child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, missing persons, and bias crimes on the MSU campus. During that assignment, she was the department’s primary investigator for the Larry Nassar investigation, which included 19 additional detectives.
