Aly Kramer Jacobs is the Director of Counseling and Advocacy at the Houston Area Women’s Center, located in Houston, Texas. Specializing in trauma-informed care, her expertise includes working with survivors of sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, sex trafficking and/or domestic violence. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston and has over 15 years of experience in the field of trauma. Ms. Jacobs has had numerous opportunities to speak out and educate on the topic of domestic and sexual violence which includes at the 2019 Texas Association Against Sexual Assault Conference and 2018 Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigator Course. Ms. Jacobs has trained officers of the Houston Police Department on the Neurobiology of Trauma, as well as training for direct service providers on various issues including: Trust-Based Relational Intervention, active listening skills, trauma informed care, and resiliency. Ms. Jacobs also has experience with media interviews, testifying in the Texas Senate, serving as an expert panelist, and providing expert witness testimony in criminal and immigration court, and more.
