This webinar provides tools and practical strategies to effectively serve Black women survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). Survivors in this community face unique challenges rooted in intersecting identities. Ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity all shape their experience. IPV in this community unfolds inside a wider web of trauma — historical, family, structural, institutional, cultural, and community violence.
Black survivors also disproportionately experience reproductive coercion, non-fatal strangulation, and domestic homicide, and many of them must also manage IPV-related PTSD and depression.
Using an approach that is survivor-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based is crucial to effective care. Join renowned experts Dr. Carolyn West and Doris O’Neal to learn strategies for helping Black survivors navigate systems of support.
